When you don't know which way to turn, wouldn't it be good if fate could just show you the way? Poppy Baxter is trapped. Stagnating in a perfunctory relationship, tortured by a job she hates and tormented by a society that drives her to despair. Every day is soul destroying and it couldn't possibly get any worse. Until it does. A mental breakdown is only a temporary reprieve though - what she really needs is to escape and leave it all behind. But how? And then she opens the envelope...
